It’s All About Texture

Welcome to my website. Here you will see all things touchable. My artwork will invite you to see if it really is as “real” as it looks. Many say it looks like frosting. Yes, it does but don’t try to eat it. You will find gorgeous flowers in bouquets. Roses in vases to give your Loved one and even a landscape of paths to wander and trees to walk among. And, don’t think beaches and ocean weaves are left out. Touch the edge of the wave as it builds then crashes. Deep blues, reds, yellows gold and metallic blue all vie for your attention. When you are able to hold the piece you definitely will find yourself touching each petal or every wave. Yes, It’s all about Texture.

I’m All About Texture

Come into my world of texture.

Hi, I am Brenda Maxson, Artist… and a very tactile person. For me touch, feel, sensation is all a necessary part of who I am. I create my art to invite anyone to join me in my world of touch. I have struggled to “paint smooth” yet somehow the paint piles up. So, I gave in. When I found a thick, yummy paint that looked like it could be frosting I fell in love with it and have been creating realistic flowers, touchable bouquets, and landscapes with some amount of actual, feel-able texture.

When I am at an event, art fair or art show, I will definitely tell those who stop by to “You can touch it. It’s ok”. Kids will always reach out before the parents can stop them. Curiosity and a need to discover “is it real?” is there and I encourage it.

I have painted from early on, yet family and work life kept me from enjoying the fullness of my artwork until I retired in 2016. My love of texture painting came into full view in 2018 and with heavy-texture paint products and painting in 2020. I have found my medium of choice.

I encourage you to join me. Let’s explore the fascinating world of texture.
